Introduction to Arduino Electronics short course

Classes are presented in both English and Afrikaans.

Suitable for ages 12+:

The introductory short course is made of two sessions of two hours each, each session has its own kit. Each learner must bring along their own computer. This course is presented on the assumption that the learner has basic knowledge of programming Arduino. 

Outcomes:

  • Understand Arduino board architecture, pin layouts and connectivity

  • Write code and upload it to the Arduino board.

  • Control lights and other electronic devices from their Arduino.

  • Design, create and prototype electronic circuit.

  • Test, debug and apply Arduino boards to solve real world problems.

Computer Specifications:

Each learner must bring a long a computer with the following minimum requirements:

  • Win 8 or later, 1.6GHz processor and 4GB of RAM.

  • 600MB of free disk space for software installation.

Kit:

  • Arduino Uno R3

  • Communication cable for the Arduino used.

  • 1x Breadboard

  • 1x Light Dependant Resistor (LDR)

  • 1x Bright White LED

  • 4x Coloured LEDs (Blue, Green, Yellow and Red)

  • 5x 220Ω resistors

  • 1x 1kΩ resistor

  • 1x 10kΩ resistor

  • 1x 100kΩ resistor

  • 1x Push button

  • 1x 6V DC motor

  • 1x Flyback diode

  • 1x Potentiometer

  • 1x Transistor

  • 1x Battery holder

  • 2x AA Batteries

  • Wires

There are two sessions for this course. The total cost for session one is R730.
