Introduction to ArduBlock course

Classes are presented in both English and Afrikaans.

Suitable for ages 9-14:

The introductory course is offered over four Saturdays from 9:00 to 14:00. In this course the learner will build and race their own robot car. Each learner is given a kit that contains all the components used in the course. Each learner must bring along their own computer. This course is presented on the assumption that the learner has no experience in programming Arduino or ArduBlock. The basic principles of electronic circuits used in the course will be covered. 

Outcomes:

• Programming skills using ArduBlock which is a visual and graphic representation of the Arduino language. (Based on C/C++)

• Knowledge of Arduino board communications with computers, monitors, sensors and actuators.

• Skills regarding prototyping electrical circuits on a breadboard.

• Robot assembly, coding and math skills for navigating a maze.

Computer Specifications:

Each learner must bring a long a computer with the following minimum requirements:

• Win 8 or later, 1.6GHz processor and 4GB of RAM.

• 600MB of free disk space for software installation.

• Communication cable for the Arduino used.
